Hi, it’s Steve from PartSelect. Today we’re going to show you how to change
the door lock assembly on your front load washer. It’s a really easy job. All we’re going to need is a Phillips screwdriver. Let me show you how we do it. Before we begin this repair, the first thing
we’ll need to do is to disconnect power to the washer, and we’ll also want to pull it
out far enough that we can access the screws that secure the top to the cabinet. Now, there are two plastic brackets at the
back, there are two screws in each. We’re just going to take the lower screw out on each
side. Then we’ll pull that top just back about an
inch. That will disengage it from the cabinet, and
we can lift it off and set it aside. Now with the top removed, we can reach down
in and we’re going to depress that locking tab on the wire harness to that door switch,
and then just pull straight down on it and disengage it. We’ll remove one of the screws that hold that
door locks assembly to the front panel. We want to support that door lock assembly as
we remove the second screw so that we don’t drop it down inside the cabinet. I’m pulling it out of the opening, and remove
it. We’ll take the new switch, and we’re going
to install that wire harness on it first. Line it up press it firmly into place. Make sure that locking tab engages, and then
while holding it in position, fit it into that opening through the front panel and
hold it there until you hit at least one of the screws in to retain them.Next, we’ll install
the retaining screws. Just hold that latch assembly in place while
we start to screw. Let’s check the operation of the door. We can now put the main top back on. We’ll line up the slotted openings on either
side with these shoulder screws attached to the cabinet. Again, we’ll set it back about an inch from
the front, push it firmly against the control panel, install the retaining screws. We’re now ready to reconnect the power, and
our repair is complete. I told you it was an easy job. Thanks for watching, and good luck with your
repair.
