Hi! It’s Steve from PartSelect. Today, we
are going to show you how to change the latch assembly on your dishwasher and it’s a really
easy job. All you are going to need is a #20 Torx bit and maybe a pair of needle nose pliers.
Let me show you how we do it. Now before we begin this repair we will need to disconnect
the power to the dishwasher, because we will be working near some electrical circuits.
So find the breaker or fuse that powers the dishwasher and disconnect it at that point.
Next, we will open the dishwasher door and we need to remove these screws that hold the
inner door panel to the outer door panel with a #20 Torx and remove all of those. And as
you remove the last screw you will want to secure the inner and outer door panels together,
and then we are just going to lift that inner door panel away from the outer door panel
and tilt it up, not that we can remove the wire harness from the wax motor on the drier,
and the same thing on the one on soap box. And at that point, we can just tilt that panel
and leave it there. You can simply lift the door handle and mechanism
out of the outer door panel and with the handle and latch assembly pulled out of the outer
door panel, we will simply remove the two plugs going to the door switches, and that
may be fairly tight on there. So with a pair of needle nose pliers, you can go in between
the switch and the plug and just gently pry those away. We can
discard the old latch and handle and then
we will simply reconnect the wire harnesses to the switches, make sure they are harnessed
securely, and then we will set that latch assembly, so that these two pivot points rest
in the appropriate openings on the inner door panel. We can now reinstall the inner door
panel. So we will start by reconnecting the harness connectors to the soap dispenser and
to the front door. We will lower that inner panel into position and make sure that the
latch opening fits properly in the inner door and then we can reassemble the screws. Now
we can check the operation of the door latch, make sure that the handle pops down and latches.
We can reconnect the power and our repair is complete. I told you it was an easy job.
Thanks for watching and good luck with your repair.
